PSI Member"I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being."    - Abraham Lincoln

Just like you, we are the proud parents of some finicky felines, and two very cool dogs (Miss T-Bone and Little Pepper)!  You can trust us because we know how concerned we are about our fuzzy pals when we are away, and we will pass that same concern and care on to you and your companions.

We also find some time to serve in Richmond’s animal community and enjoy our role as volunteer “foster” parents for a wonderful cat rescue group called Cat Adoption and Rescue Efforts – CARE.  For the past year, we have been providing a “permanent” foster home to two senior cats – Hank and Ladybug.  You can read more about them in CARE’s 2007 Fall / Winter Newsletter by clicking here.  If you are interested in adopting a cat, please visit the CARE website:  www.care-cats.org

For as long as we have had pets, we have been strongly committed to spaying and neutering them; in fact, we encourage everyone to do so.  If you are a new pet owner and find yourself a little short on cash, check out Richmond’s very own low-cost spay/neuter clinic:  Prevent A Litter; visit their website at http://www.preventalitter.org/index2.htm

Finally, our spare change doesn’t just pay for tolls around town, we try to send some of it on:

  • Alley Cat Allies (every feral and stray cats best friend); please visit their website to learn more about how you can help save a feral:  http://www.alleycat.org
  • We also support Best Friends Animal Society (the wonderful group who saved so many pets in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, over 1,000 bunnies in the Great Bunny Rescue of 2006, and 22 VICK-TORY Dogs:  http://www.bestfriends.org/vickdogs).  Please visit the Best Friend’s website:  http://www.bestfriends.org

In the end, make a commitment to be involved:  animals everywhere will love you for it.

Finally, we wish to continue making this our “dedication page.”  First, to dear friend and feline companion “DVD” who left us too young in life on October 17, 2006.  Since then, we wish to add the name of another of our companions, E-Bay.  “Big E” was a street cat from Chester, Virginia that quickly developed the disposition of a lamb after he selected us as his human companions.  He joined DVD on October 16, 2007 when he took the brave leap and crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  We continue to express our appreciation and thanks to our vet, Dr. Randy Mortimer, and the wonderful staff at Quioccasin Veterinary Hospital for their dedication, care and kindness in working with us over the years.  http://www.quioccasin.com
